Phono preamplifier
Preamplifier/equalizer for phono cartridges
The Nash is a dedicated preamplifier and phono equalizer for every cartridge model. It features two phono inputs, one for low-level MC cartridges and one for mid-high-level MC cartridges and MM cartridges.
Its fully discrete circuit with J-FET input features a very low noise floor and high gain, allowing it to reach an output voltage of 2.5 Vrms with 5mV on MM and 170uV on MC. Passive RIAA is implemented with high precision polypropylene capacitors.
The parameters of the MC interface (input impedance and gain of the MC pre-pre) are set via the potentiometer from the rear panel. The MM interface parameters (input impedance and load capacity) are also set by dip-switches, again from the rear panel.
The Nash is equipped with a Bluetooth BLE interface for control and configuration. An app for iPhone and Android smartphone allows the user to fully control the unit and set the configuration parameters. A comprehensive, continuously updated cartridge database makes configuration faster and easier.
The Nash can be controlled with the front panel encoder, using the supplied infrared remote control or via the dedicated Android or iOS app via Bluetooth. The operation data is displayed on a highly readable OLED display. A menu allows you to set parameters such as: anti-rumble filter, MM input gain, etc.
Two line-level auxiliary inputs make the Nash a hub or switchbox for analog sources, an interesting plus when the Nash is used in conjunction with the Young MkIV or other gear equipped with only one analog input, to take full advantage of the only analog input available. A system based on Young MkIV and Nash can have a total of four analog sources: two phono and two high level (tuner, tape…).
The noise performance and tone of the Nash can be further increased by replacing the supplied wall switch mode power supply with the M2Tech Van der Graaf MKII ultra low noise power supply.
